it’s biking time again…

_1000584 - Version 2

All you need to know in one place

Now the evenings are getting lighter and the weather’s a bit warmer, we’ll be starting up SaddleSoar, our biking group, again.

The under 18’s group is open to anyone who wants to come along and try out mountain biking. We organise a mix of trips, from gentle ‘pootles’ along canal paths to more challenging trips to Glentress and the other mountain bike centres if you fancy getting a bit muddy.

We also organise skills training sessions to help you get the most out of the trips, and maintenance classes to help you look after your bike.

Don’t worry if you haven’t cycled much in the past – we’ll chat about what you feel confident doing and suggest the right trip to get you started. You don’t even need to have a bike, as we have some good quality mountain bikes you can borrow.

Keeping Safe

We’re not going to kid you on, mountain bikers sometimes get bumped, bruised, cut and occassionally broken. However, we aim to ensure that you are not exposed to unneccessary or stupid risks when you are out with us.

Every trip is accompanied by at least one adult who has been through the SMBC Trail Leader training, and a qualified First Aider (just in case!).

Helmets are non-negotiable – no lid, no trip

Clothing – have a look at this page if you want some ideas about what to wear and what to bring.
