We had a busy October holiday week, with two groups of young people from SiMY successfully completing their DofE Expedition section in the Aviemore area.
During the first part of the week, four of the lads completed their Silver expedition with a journey from Abernethy over the Slugain pass to Rothiemurchus then, after exploring the beautiful remnants of the old Caledonian forest there, they travelled back to Nethybridge via Glenmore and the ‘Green Lochan’
We had a quick changeover on Wednesday, waving off a tired foursome on the minibus which had just deposited a bouncy giggly squad of the girls in their place! After a night’s kip at The Cairngorm Christian Centre in Kincraig, they were off bright and early to be dropped at the RSPB lodge in Abernethy to make their way over to their campsite at Bynack Stable, then down through the forest to meet the minibus down near Coylumbridge.
Both groups made it look really effortless, with accurate navigation and good organisation at mealtimes and camps – clearly we’ll have to up the challenge a bit for their next adventure 🙂
