Community Resources Assistant


Ashgill Recreation Centre, 340 – 342 Ashgill Rd, Milton, Glasgow

Initial 6 Month Employment with possibility of 6 months extension

Aged 18+             35hrs Per Week        £7.20per hr

Shift: Tuesday – Friday , 2.00 pm – 9.30pm 

Saturday: 10.30am – 6pm  with flexibility on a rota system


Applicants must live within a Glasgow Post Code and currently be unemployed

Main Purpose of the Job:             To assist in the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of our Community Resources Section. To develop a programme of activities for the community that are needs led. To work with partner agencies in planning, developing and evaluating activities and to assist in ensuring that the Community Resources provides welcoming, clean and safe facilities for the public.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To open and close Community Safety Glasgow’s buildings as required.
  • To provide front of Centre reception type duties and undertake administration tasks such as dealing with bookings, processing memberships, updating information management systems etc…
  • To plan and develop programmed youth and community work activities within the centre
  • To set up and take down equipment as required
  • To administer first aid as per training guidelines and to record incidents in the appropriate manner
  • To provide excellent customer service at all times by providing a helpful and pleasant service
  • To patrol the Centre to prevent unauthorised access and to ensure the Centre is used correctly
  • To identify potential hazards and take appropriate action in line with operating procedures, training and emergency action plans
  • To clean and maintain the internal and external areas of the Centre to a high standard following Health & safety procedures at all times
  • To assist in the safe evacuation of the building in an emergency or fire alarm activation in line with the detailed action plans
  • To take delivery of goods, record and store as appropriate
  • To ensure the security of the building ensuring that all exits are safe, windows are closed, public are vacated at closing time and lights/heating is switched off
  • To act as a reference point for information and enquiries regarding the centre, its activities and facilities
  • To advise, support and encourage the public to participate in Centre activities
