About Us

SiMY Community Development is a community development organisation, based in the Townhead area of Glasgow. We work alongside young people and their families from Townhead, Royston, Springburn and Cowcaddens to help them achieve their hopes and ambitions for themselves and their community.

We exist to be: “a caring, listening and inclusive community within which young people and their families can explore and develop their potential through planned and informal activity. “

Most of our activities take place in and around Townhead, and you can find a full list of upcoming activities here.

All the activities we provide are open to anyone, regardless of gender, beliefs or sexuality (apart from the odd boys/girls only night!). Some of the activities are restricted to certain age groups, so it is always worth checking before you come along to something.

The website will give you lots of information about the activities which will be happening in an average week at SiMY. You can also see what we’ve been up to on Facebook and follow us on Twitter SiMYProject

Our Aims

The overall aim of SiMY is to develop a sustainable programme of activities for young people and their families in Townhead and the surrounding area which contribute to the development of both individuals and the community as a whole.  All activity at SiMY is underpinned by a commitment to experiential learning, which takes place in a range of mainly non-formal and informal settings.

  • We offer adventurous learning that provides challenging experiences with an uncertain outcome.
  • We seek to stimulate self-reflection to help turn experience into learning.
  • We offer constructive support that helps to make sense of failure and celebrates success.
  • We provide opportunities for service to encourage compassion and make connections between various parts of the community.
